Last Thursday, Kevin was playing basketball at his work with some co-workers and
had rolled his ankle. He gave me a call to meet him at the ER and his whole ankle had swollen up big time! We were there for about two hours and he was given a splint and had to be
on crutches. The next morning we went to orthopedics and he was put into a cast. The doc said that he had some floating debree in his ankle and that his top ankle bone and his lower ankle bone compressed together and it looked like a clot that might need surgery. By Tuesday he was complaining about some pain and how it would just throb inside the cast. Wednesday his toes started going purple, and green.
Thursday morning Kevin called back to orthopedics and told them what was happening and they had him come in. We were there for more than an hour before even being seen but finally they saw him, cut off the cast and his whole foot was swollen and it was dark red, purple, yellow, etc. It was pretty bad. So they put him in a slightly bigger splint called a bulky jones. It's a half cast in
the back part of the leg, and then a lot of cotton every where else. He was put on 'bed rest' for two days (so no work, that lucky dog!) and by the time I got home after dropping him off on Thursday his toes were normal colors again. So I think its doing alot better now. It's been hard trying to adjust to life with him on crutches but he's been enjoying the pampering I'm sure. LOL! I just better expect the same
treatment when he's back on his feet. Neways, we go back in on Tuesday to get it looked at once again to see if he has to have surgery, a splint, or another cast. Urgh...it's been frustrating for him to say the least.
Oh my goodness! That looks painful! Hopefully he is on the road to recovery and won't need surgery.
