Day Seven (Dec 30th)
We woke up on a different island this day. It was Kauai, Hawaii. The excursion on the list today is Hollywood in Hawaii. We got breakfast at Alizar’s once again and it was great. We got off the ship and onto to our tour bus. We went to all sorts of places and I can barely remember most of the
m. The best part of the tour was taking a trip to Coco Palms which was in the movie Blue Hawaii starring Elvis. He loved Coco Palms the hotel soo much he had his own suite isolated from everyone else by the road. We got to see where some scenes from Jurassic Park were filmed, and from the movie Dragonfly, and so many more. It was really cool! We went to a pier off of this one beach and they used a certain covered pier type building in about 4 different movies! We also got to see where they shot Gilligan’s Island. When we got back we had about 20 minutes to catch our next excursion which was suppose to be a romantic sunset cruise. It turned out to be more of a speedboat run on the ocean and let’s see how soaked you can get. It was fun and felt like a roller coaster ride but they shouldn’t have advertised it as a romantic cruise when it was nothing slow and romantic about it. We did get to see Whales though! My first time ever. I have no film or video of it though because it was unexpected and quite far away from the boat. I saw it jump up in the air and splash back down. That was the coolest part of the day. We got back to the ship’s port at around 6:30pm and so we took a trolley to the nearest shopping center to see where Kevin could watch the game and then took another trolley to the best place ever; Starbucks!! After running around we came back to the ship and attempted to eat at the Italian styled Restaurant called Papa’s Kitchen. At first the lady at the front desk was not wanting to help us so we came back about an hour later and there another person standing there so I asked him and he was extremely helpful. Even though we had to sit at the bar, it was the best place and the best food so far. The service, besides that front desk chick, was awesome! After dinner, we headed back to the room and went to bed.
Day Eight (Dec 31st- 2nd Anniversary)
Still in Kauai, Hawaii; we had nothing planned but to watch the Dallas Cowboy game. We took the first trolley to the sports bar that we found the day before. I stopped at this jewelry store that had these oysters on the outside with a sign about opening one and getting a pearl
guaranteed. So I was like that would be cool. I had Kevin video me opening one and I lucked out and got not one pearl inside the oyster but two pink pearls! And with 60 percent off I got them for $5!!! They did try to sell me a setting for the pearls but the jewelry was just way too expensive. Kevin and I agreed that we can try to find a place in Anchorage instead. So we go to the sports bar to find it still closed and will not open until 10am! The game started at 8am and that is what time we were standing in front of the bar. He of course was ticked off. We took the trolley back to the ship and took another trolley to the other shopping center where Starbucks was and connected to the internet so he could at least watch the live play going on. After the game I checked my email and such and it was nice to be able to get online after a long drought without it. We went back to the ship and changed to go swimming on the top side. We shipped off at 230pm and back to Honolulu. We stayed out in the sun for a lil’ bit and then went inside to shower and change for dinner and our Anniversary. We didn’t have any reservations so I
suggested that we show up at the French restaurant early to get squeezed in. So for our 2nd Anniversary we had the French styled restaurant and our new favorite bottle of sparkling wine called La Spinetta. The whole experience was awesome! After dinner, we got pictures done by the photographer and picked up some more souvenirs. After that we went back to the room and packed. We had to have the luggage ready before 11pm and so we got it all ready to be put outside our room. We went all over the ship to see where the party was going and saw some karaoke, and comedy being done and then realized we hadn’t put the bags out yet. So we went back to the cabin and brought the bags out. Kevin had to use the restroom so I decided to rest a lil’ and lay on the bed…and I didn’t get back up. I felt like a big million pound weight. I couldn’t open my eyes and I was super sleepily. I don’t know how I went from party animal to party pooper but I never did get to see the New Year. It suxs too because I wanted to video the ball drop, and the balloons going off and etc. I kept apologizing to Kevin for not wishing him a happy new year and kissing him at countdown. I feel so bad still. I felt like I went into some kind of coma. I joked with Kevin that someone drugged my drink of something.
Day Nine (Jan 1st, 2007)
We woked up for our last time on the ship. We were already docked on the pier of Honolulu. We got up and packed up our book bags and headed to breakfast at Alizar’s. After breakfast, we grabbed our formal picture of New Year’s Eve and headed off the boat. We stopped at the S
tarbucks outside the ship and surfed the web to get a hotel. We picked Waikiki Sand Villa and it’s pretty nice. We got a taxi to the hotel and checked in. Since we had about five hours to kill before our room was ready we walked to the zoo. That was interesting and alright experience. It was slightly hot but mostly cloudy so we got some coverage from the heat. We got to see all sorts of animals and one interesting couple of big turtles. We were getting it on! It was quite hilarious and yes, I did get it on film! Hee, hee. After the zoo we walked back to the hotel and got our room. It was upgraded according to the desk chick and it was sweet! A corner room with a balcony that wraps around the room! It’s a gorgeous view! We took showers and changed after that long walk to the zoo and back with heavy book bags. We got a taxi to the local mall and it was huge! Four stories and all the stores I’ve never seen like Prada, Coach, Dior, Jimmy Choo, and so on!!! Too cool! We had dinner at Ruby Tuesday and then of course….STARBUCKS! Can you see my obsession yet?!?! We got on a trolley back to the hotel and here’s a little something I didn’t know about Hawaii and I don’t mean to be rude but everyone on the trolley except one other guy, myself and Kevin were Korean or at least some type of Asian ethnic group. Everything I read has it in Korean and English. It’s quite different than I am use to. After we got dropped off, we walked to the hotel and headed for bed.
Day Ten (Jan 2nd)
We woke up around 9am and went out to the town. We caught a bus to Wal-mart to find a
sweatshirt that says Hawaii on it but no luck. So we caught the bus back and stopped at a restaurant called Cheeseburger in Paradise. It was really good actually and you could see the beach from where we were sitting. After lunch we got a souvenir for my friend Nicole and collected some sand. LOL! We then went back to the hotel and did the laundry and Kevin did his homework for school. I re-packed the suitcases and put all my scraps together for my scrapbook. After that we went out into the town again for dinner. We went to a place called Waikiki’s Shopping Plaza, and had taco bell. I then treated myself with some delicious Cold Stone! We came back to the hotel after that and headed for bed. All in all, a lazy relaxing day.
Day Eleven (Jan 3rd)
This was the last time we would wake up in Hawaii. We got up around 8am and went down to the hotel's pool for breakfast. The birds there were crazy and gutsy! They kept trying to steal my doughnut! After breakfast, we showered and checked out of our room. We were able to store our suitcases in their storage room thankfully and so we walked about the town. We had lunch at the Planethollywood and got to see inside the Hilton. Kevin and I were shocked to see penguins just hanging out there in arms' reach. When I get my videos downloaded you'll see what I mean! After seeing the flamingos, penguins, and other birds at the hilton, we took a look at the miltary hotel called the Alhoa Koa (spelling could be wrong) and it's beautiful. Plus there was a BX/PX there and we should have shopped there for sovieners. Everything was half the price we paid elsewhere. Oh well. I did however buy some Hibucus (sp?) plants and it says
they can grow inside the home. I sure hope so. I would love to have those beautiful flowers in my front yard for all to see. They are soo gorgeous! So after leaving the hotels, we walked back towards the hotel and stopped at a....can you guess?!? That's right, a Starbucks! So we sat there for a while b/c of all the walking and finished our drinks. We then walked to the hotel. Kevin surfed the web and watched football in their hospitality room and I slept on the sofa in there. Around 7-ish a friend who use to live in AK with us but moved to HI, came and picked us up for dinner and dropped us off at the airport. All in all it was a good experience and a nice break from the snow. Would I pay this much again for a trip to Hawaii? Probably not.
